Y’all, I did it again! I faced my fear, and installed peel and stick wallpaper to yet another wall! And this time, I did it completely by MYSELF (GASP) Hahaha!
For some, that might not be hard. For me, it is! However, this time around I had more experience and I feel like I learned even more.
I’m excited to share with you guys my biggest tips and tricks when installing peel and stick wallpaper in your own home! For reference, this is the beautiful brick pattern I installed from WallsNeedLove.
ATTN: THIS is NOT a step by step tutorial on how to install the wallpaper. Looking for that? See a previous blog post where I go into the details on that.
Here are my top TIPS + TRICKS!!
1. Have a second pair of hands!
Now, this obviously isn’t necessary since I just told you I need it myself. However, it is super helpful. Especially if this is your first time installing it. It never hurts to have a second set of hands and eyes to make sure the panels are going on straight.
2. The top of the wallpaper panel has to be 100% straight!
Here is what I have learned. If you start applying the panel and it is not straight, you are going to have issues. The wallpaper will not go on correctly and you will be left with imperfections. However, if you start the panel straight on top, the wallpaper naturally smooths itself out.
3. TAKE YOUR TIME!
This isn’t a race y’all! The slower the better. I have honestly started peeling the backing off in about 3-5 inch sections at a time. This helps me to continually check my work to make sure the panel is straight and I have fewer errors that I have to fix by readjusting it. Remember to breathe 😉 patience is the name of the game.
